Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly has stunning 1960s style fashion in the movie Grace of Monaco.

The movie is loosely based on part of Grace Kelly’s life, after she had become a Princess and was considering returning to Hollywood to play in the Hitchcock movie Marnie.

She has to navigate through learning to play the part of a Princess while being tempted to return to Hollywood.

Grace Kelly didn’t end up playing the role of Marnie, but Marnie was made into a Hitchcock film starring Tippi Hedren and Sean Connery.

The storyline might not be very accurate but of course re-creating Grace Kelly comes with incredible fashion.

Some of the outfits seem to be based off of Grace Kelly’s real life, some off of her movie costumes, and others might just be reflective of 1950s and 1960s fashion.

If you’re a fan of Grace Kelly fashion and mid-century fashion then you’ll enjoy the outfits even if the storyline and costumes aren’t 100% accurate.

The movie starts out with Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly leaving the set of her final movie, High Society.

This gold dress she is wearing does look like one that she wore in the film during a scene opposite of Frank Sinatra.

There are a few parts in the movie Grace of Monaco where Nicole Kidman playing Grace Kelly wears some casual outfits.

For instance, a scene where Alfred Hitchcock comes to visit Grace Kelly, Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly is wearing a white button down shirt, tucked into high-waisted pants and accessorized with pearls.

Later on in the film, she is horse-back riding with a similar outfit - this time a white blouse tucked into a pair of dark green high-waisted pants.

This is a common look we’ve seen with Grace Kelly, who favored crisp blouses tucked into high-waisted pants.

In High Society she is wearing a tan blouse tucked into high-waisted pants, and in Mogambo, she is again wearing a white blouse tucked into brown pants this time.

Another scene where Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly is dressed casually is during a brief scene where she is shooting a video with her kids who are pretending they are in a western movie.

She is wearing a what looks to be a pink cardigan sweater set, tucked into a gray skirt.

This is also similar to the styles she was often photographed in, as she often wore cardigan and full 1950’s style skirts.

Several times throughout the movie Grace of Monaco, Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly is seen wearing a negligee with a silk robe over for the evening after changing out of her day clothes.

We’ve also seen similar negligees on Grace Kelly in the Hitchcock movies Rear Window opposite James Stewart and again in Dial M for Murder.
